SFAD – Sudden & Unexplained Deaths

If you have lost someone who used alcohol or drugs, our bereavement service is here to support you. We can chat and offer some advice and information. We also can put you in touch with an accredited counsellor who is local to you. Our service is free and is available across Scotland

Carers Centre – Dumfries and Galloway

The Dumfries and Galloway Carers Centre provide information, advice and support to anyone who cares for a relative or friend. They also aim to raise awareness of the needs of carers ad the contribution the make to care in the community. 

Many people do not see themselves as Carers and may be missing out on vital services, benefits and information. A Carer is someone who provides support to a family member or friend who is affected by long-term illness, disability, age or addiction.

NHS Crisis Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS)

A nurse led team and part of the community mental health services in Dumfries and Galloway. Provides a 24-hour service working every day of the year.

Support in Mind Scotland

Offers support for people experiencing mental illness and for their families and friends who care for them

If something’s troubling you, contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse

Dumfriesshire and Stewartry Women’s Aid

A charitable organisation for women and children whose lives have been affected by Domestic abuse. Domestic abuse can be shown in many forms such as physical, emotional, sexual and financial.  Women can self-refer or can be referred by another agency. You do not have to have children to receive support from us. You do not need an appointment.

Wigtownshire Women’s Aid

A confidential service that provides information, support and temporary safe accommodation for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

Dumfries & Galloway Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Support Centre

Dumfries and Galloway Rape Crisis & Sexual abuse Support Centre provides free and confidential information, advocacy and support to anyone (age 12 and over) in Dumfries and Galloway affected by any form of sexual violence.

They welcome survivors of sexual violence and their non-abusing friends, partners and families

National Domestic Abuse & Forced Marriage Helpline Scotland

The Helpline continually strives to meet the needs of all individuals and to reach into communities by offering a 24 hour Phone service to anyone affected by domestic abuse and/or forced marriage. We welcome your call and acknowledge and respect the fact that victims of abuse can be any age, from any race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, geographical area or isolated by language.

Young People

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

CAMHS is a multi-disciplinary team, offering a community based service throughout Dumfries & Galloway, to children, young people up to the age of 18 years old, who may be struggling with their mental well-being which is significantly impacting on their day to day life.

CAMHS also offer early intervention to families as well as consultation, joint work and training to other services.

Youth Work Dumfries and Galloway

The Youth Work Service works with young people aged 12-25 to provide a range of universal and targeted opportunities across Dumfries and Galloway for young people to get involved in.

Helpline for children and young people who are distressed, in trouble or in danger.

A website for young people who are concerned about or may be affected by another person’s drinking.

Al-Ateen

Alateen is for teenage relatives and friends of alcoholics. Alateen is part of Al-Anon.
